4R Group has been at the heart of CLO and mixed waste digestate since these materials started to be produced around 15 years ago.
We have staff who have worked in CLO production and in CLO academic research, and we can help producers meet the specifications required for a variety of end uses. We remain one of the last few operators who operate a land restoration mobile plant permit, and we operate restoration sites that can take these materials.
CLO’s (Compost-Like Outputs) and mixed waste digestates are fantastic and sustainable sources of organic matter and slow-release plant nutrients. These materials are used mainly for land restoration schemes, to help kick-start the formation of soils in areas which have had their natural soils depleted or removed through mineral extraction (e.g. quarries, mines, spoil tips, landfills). The addition of organic matter helps support initial plant growth which in turn stabilises the manufactured soil profile as it develops over time.

The use of CLOs and mixed waste digestates really helps to close the loop in organics recycling, through maximising sustainability, promoting the waste hierarchy, reducing landfill and often producing energy along the way.
