We make soil from spoil!
Over the years, our highly experienced restoration team have used valuable waste and by-products to restore most of the colliery sites in Yorkshire, Cornwall’s china clay pits, numerous historic landfills and other amenity spaces.
We turn bare and depleted overburden, mining spoils and other disturbed mineral substrates into thriving ecological habitats, woodland and green open spaces. We do this by combining a carefully balanced ratio of organic and mineral inputs, giving these exhausted sites the ability to regenerate themselves over time.
Our work on these sites often involves using compost like outputs (CLOs) or digestates from mixed waste streams, where all the organic waste from our black bin bag rubbish are processed into quality materials ideal for use in non-agricultural projects. We have used waste materials to help neutralise acidic colliery spoil pH levels, improve the water holding capacity and physical structure of heavily eroded sites and allow the successful establishment and long-term growth of plants and trees.
From sourcing and delivering materials to long-term aftercare and maintenance, we manage every aspect of the operation from start to finish. And we do all of this, at zero cost to the land/site owner!
