Hatfield – From Colliery to Countryside

4R Group restores colliery to create scenic landscape.
Restoration commenced on the Hatfield Colliery Spoil tip in August 2014. This involves treatment of spoil in accordance with Hatfield Colliery planning requirements and an Environment Agency permit deployment using a variety of “waste” materials which are creating soils on site suitable for establishing grassland and woodland. The area to the left of the photo is already going green, compared to the black spoil areas to the right, even during the winter. The 42 hectare spoil tip has never been green and upon completion will more readily blend into the local countryside, as have previous sites restored by the 4R Group. As the work continues photos will be up-dated.
