Shanks AD Cake Arrives

The first load of a 200 tonne batch of anaerobic digestate was delivered to the latest 4R restoration site from the Shanks MBT facility at South Kirkby on Monday 6th June.
Produced from the organic fraction within household refuse, this nutrient rich material is an ideal ingredient of the ‘Soil from Spoil’ process which the 4R soil science team has pioneered over many years across the UK.
Mike Holt, 4R Group Managing Director, said “the use of these materials generated in the Wakefield area and then recycled locally on bare sites, is an ideal solution to recycling organic material which was previously landfilled and is now creating carbon rich soils where none existed before”.
